Directions to plot and tree tag:
Take Harkening Hill trail about 1.5km, then walk west down the slope to the tag tree. Tagged tree is a Quercus prinus of 41 cm dbh with tag #404. Conduit is at a bearing of 338 degrees and 1.6 m from tree.
Plot location was pre-selected by the project's stratified random sampling design.
This is an oak forest with a few large red oaks. Quercus prinus is the next largest species, along with a few large Liriodendron tulipifera. Medium-sized hickories are growing in the canopy openings. There are abundant, large bedrock outcroppings, making up a significant portion of the area. The herb layer is moderately dense in the canopy openings and a little seep.
